2018-12-04ARM: rmobile: Convert to bootm_sizeMarek Vasut
Convert all Renesas R-Car boards to bootm_size of 256 MiB and drop both fdt_high and initrd_high. This change implies that the FDT and initrd will always be copied into the first 256 MiB of RAM instead of being used in place, which can cause various kinds of inobvious problems. The simpler problems include FDT or initrd being overwritten or being used from unaligned addresses, especially on ARM64. The overhead of copying the FDT to aligned location is negligible and these problems go away, so the benefit is significant. Regarding alignment problems with fitImage. The alignment of DT properties is always 32 bits, which implies that the alignment of the "data" property in fitImage is also 32 bits. The /incbin/ syntax plays no role here. The kernel expects all elements, including DT and initrd, to be aligned to 64 bits on ARM64, thus using them in place may not be possible. Using the bootm_size assures correct alignment, again with negligible overhead. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. This converts the following to Kconfig: CONFIG_SPI This partly involves updating code that assumes that CONFIG_SPI implies things that are specific to the MPC8xx SPI driver. For now, just update the CONFIG tests. This also involves reworking the default for CONFIG_SYS_DEF_EEPROM_ADDR so that we don't set it when we cannot make a reasonable default, as it does not cause any compile failures. There is currently no use for building the SPL anymore, since the SPI loader can easily be replaced by TPL and TPL does load U-Boot directly. 2018-04-11ARM: rmobile: Add TPL support on R8A7791 M2 PorterMarek Vasut
Add and enable TPL on M2 Porter. The TPL must fit into 16 kiB due to the Gen2 BootROM restriction. The TPL is running from MERAM and is capable of performing the initial initialization of PFC, Clock, GPIO, LBSC, DBSC and QSPI NOR. DBSC is responsible for bringing up the DDR DRAM access. The TPL is capable of loading the next stage, U-Boot, from either SPI NOR or UART as a fallback. If either does provide a valid U-Boot uImage, the system stops, which allows the operator to load U-Boot ie. via JTAG and start it manually. Due to size limitations of the MERAM, switch U-Boot to SPL. The SPL is loaded by the SPI_LOADER into MERAM and then loads U-Boot proper into DRAM. This way U-Boot can freely grow in size in DRAM, as there is plenty of it. On the NIOS2 and Xtensa architectures, we do not have CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE set. This is a strict migration of the current values into the defconfig and removing them from the headers. Convert the R8A7791 Porter board to DM and DT. This implies mostly enabling the necessary configuration options and plucking out the ad-hoc configuration from the board file. Moreover, the pre-reloc malloc size was increased to allow the clock driver to start up early without running out of malloc space and the early stack was moved further up in the DRAM to avoid rewriting U-Boot itself. 2017-01-31mmc: move CONFIG_GENERIC_MMC to KconfigMasahiro Yamada
Now, CONFIG_GENERIC_MMC seems equivalent to CONFIG_MMC. Let's create an entry for "config GENERIC_MMC" with "default MMC", then convert all macro defines in headers to Kconfig. Almost all of the defines will go away. I see only two exceptions: configs/blanche_defconfig configs/sandbox_noblk_defconfig They define CONFIG_GENERIC_MMC, but not CONFIG_MMC. Something might be wrong with these two boards, so should be checked later. Anyway, this is the output of the moveconfig tool. Commit 7a777f6d6f35 ("mmc: Add generic Kconfig option") created a Kconfig entry for this option without any actual moves, then commit 44c798799f66 ("sunxi: Use Kconfig CONFIG_MMC") moved instances only for SUNXI. We generally do not like such partial moves. This kind of work is automated by tools/moveconfig.py, so it is pretty easy to complete this move. I am adding "default ARM || PPC || SANDBOX" (suggested by Tom). This shortens the configs and will ease new board porting. Some archs/boards specify their own default by pre-defining the config which causes the Kconfig system to mix up the order of the configs in the defconfigs... This will cause merge pain if allowed to proliferate. Remove the configs that behave this way from the archs. A few configs still remain, but that is because they only exist as defaults and do not have a proper Kconfig entry.
