2010-10-26Replace CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE by auto-generated valueWolfgang Denk
CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE has always been just a bad workarond for not being able to use "sizeof(struct global_data)" in assembler files. Recent experience has shown that manual synchronization is not reliable enough. This patch renames CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE into GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE which gets automatically generated by the asm-offsets tool. In the result, all definitions of this value can be deleted from the board config files. We have to make sure that all files that reference such data include the new <asm-offsets.h> file. No other changes have been done yet, but it is obvious that similar changes / simplifications can be done for other, related macro definitions as well. CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_END was a misnomer as it suggests this might be some end address; to make the meaning more clear we rename it into CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZE No other code changes are performed in this patch, only minor editing of white space (due to the changed length) and the comments was done, where noticed. Note that the code for the PATI and cmi_mpc5xx board configurations looks seriously broken. Now that warm booting is not supported, there isn't a need for the BOOTFLAG_COLD and BOOTFLAG_WARM defines, so remove them. Note that this change makes the board info bd_bootflags field useless. It will always be set to 0, but we leave it around so that we don't break the board info structure that some OSes are expecting to be passed from U-Boot. 2010-09-23e300: increase CONFIG_SYS_BOOTMAPSZ to allow booting large kernelsIra W. Snyder
Newer Linux kernels can overrun the initial memory window used for booting with their BSS area. When this happens, they overwrite the FDT and silently fail to boot. On e300 CPUs, the Linux kernel uses an initial BAT covering the first 256MB of RAM. See arch/powerpc/kernel/head_32.S for details. Increase the value of CONFIG_SYS_BOOTMAPSZ to accommodate the maximum value allowed by Linux. This will allow very large kernels to boot. Signed-off-by: Ira W. This patch changed the SICRL_USBDR define to reflect the 4 different bit settings for this two-bit field. The four different options are '00', '01', '10', and '11'. This patch also corrects the config file for SIMPC8313 and MPC8313ERDB for the appropriate fields. This change only affects the MPC8313 cpu. 2009-04-01mpc83xx: Set guarded bit on BAT that covers the end of the address spaceScott Wood
The mpc8313erdb board currently sets DBAT6 to cover all of the final 256MiB of address space; however, not all of this space is covered by a device. In particular, flash sits at 0xfe000000-0xfe7fffff, and nothing is mapped at the far end of the address space. In zlib, there is a loop that references p[-1] if p is non-NULL. Under some circumstances, this leads to the CPU speculatively loading from 0xfffffff8 if p is NULL. This leads to a machine check. This patch renames NAND_MAX_CHIPS to CONFIG_SYS_NAND_MAX_CHIPS and changes the default from 8 to 1 for the legacy and the new MTD NAND layer. This allows to remove all NAND_MAX_CHIPS definitions in the board config files because none of the boards use multi chip support (NAND_MAX_CHIPS > 1) so far. The bamboo and the DU440 define #define NAND_MAX_CHIPS CONFIG_SYS_MAX_NAND_DEVICE but that's bogus and did not work anyhow. 2008-01-16Changes in uboot DDR configuration for MPC8313eRDBPoonam Aggrwal
These changes were identified by HighSmith Bill ,Mazzyar and Joseph for DDR configuration in u-boot code. Some are related to performance, some affect stability and some correct few basic errors in the current configuration. The changes have been tested and found to give better memory latency figures on MPC8313eRDB.LMBench figures prove it. The changes are: - CS0_CONFIG[ AP_n_EN] is changed from 1 to 0 (this may improve performance for application with many read or write to open pages). - CS0_CONFIG[ODT_WR_CFG] is currently changed from 100 to 001 (activating all the CS when only one is used may cause unwanted noise on the system) - TIMING_CFG_1[ACTTOPRE] is changed from 9clks to 8clks (based on Tras=45ns) - TIMING_CFG_1[REFREC] changed from 21 clks to 18clks. - TIMING_CFG_2[AL] value changed from 0 setting to 1 clk to comply with the 3 ODT clk requirements) - TIMING_CFG_2[CPO] was set to a reserved value, changed to RL+3/4. - TIMING_CFG_2[FOUR_ACT] is changed from 10 clks to 6clks. - DDR_SDRAM_MODE[AL]changed from 0 to 1. - DDR_SDRAM_MODE[WRREC] changed from 1 clk to 3 clks. - DDR_SDRAM_INTERVAL[REFINT] is changed from 0x0320 to 0x0510. - DDR_SDRAM_INTERVAL[BSTOPRE] is changed from 0x64 to 0x0500.
