2020-05-18common: Drop net.h from common headerSimon Glass
Move this header out of the common header. Network support is used in quite a few places but it still does not warrant blanket inclusion. Note that this net.h header itself has quite a lot in it. It could be split into the driver-mode support, functions, structures, checksumming, etc. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2020-01-17common: Move clock functions into a new fileSimon Glass
These three clock functions don't use driver model and should be migrated. In the meantime, create a new file to hold them. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
2020-01-17common: Move relocate_code() to init.hSimon Glass
This is an init function so move it out of the common header. Avoid using the typedef so that we don't have to include the global_data header file. Also tidy up the function style in comments while we are here. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

2019-12-02common: Move interrupt functions into a new headerSimon Glass
These functions do not use driver model but are fairly widely used in U-Boot. But it is not clear that they will use driver model anytime soon, so we don't want to label them as 'legacy'. Move them to a new irq_func.h header file. Avoid the name 'irq.h' since it is widely used in U-Boot already. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
2019-12-02common: Move some cache and MMU functions out of common.hSimon Glass
These functions belong in cpu_func.h. Another option would be cache.h but that code uses driver model and we have not moved these cache functions to use driver model. Since they are CPU-related it seems reasonable to put them here. Move them over. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
2019-12-02Move strtomhz() to vsprintf.hSimon Glass
At present this function sits in its own file but it does not really justify it. There are similar string functions in vsprintf.h, so move it there. Also add the missing function comment. Use the vsprintf.h include file explicitly where needed. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>
2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@konsulko.com>

2016-07-30m68k: code reformatting for all start.S filesAngelo Dureghello
This patch is style-related only, to reformat all the start.S code, actually not following a coherent style inside single files and between different cpu start.S files. 2014-07-30kconfig: switch to KconfigMasahiro Yamada
This commit enables Kconfig. Going forward, we use Kconfig for the board configuration. mkconfig will never be used. Nor will include/config.mk be generated. Kconfig must be adjusted for U-Boot because our situation is a little more complicated than Linux Kernel. We have to generate multiple boot images (Normal, SPL, TPL) from one source tree. Each image needs its own configuration input. Usage: Run "make <board>_defconfig" to do the board configuration. It will create the .config file and additionally spl/.config, tpl/.config if SPL, TPL is enabled, respectively. You can use "make config", "make menuconfig" etc. to create a new .config or modify the existing one. Use "make spl/config", "make spl/menuconfig" etc. for spl/.config and do likewise for tpl/.config file. The generic syntax of configuration targets for SPL, TPL is: <target_image>/<config_command> Here, <target_image> is either 'spl' or 'tpl' <config_command> is 'config', 'menuconfig', 'xconfig', etc. When the configuration is done, run "make". (Or "make <board>_defconfig all" will do the configuration and build in one time.) For futher information of how Kconfig works in U-Boot, please read the comment block of scripts/multiconfig.py. By the way, there is another item worth remarking here: coexistence of Kconfig and board herder files. Prior to Kconfig, we used C headers to define a set of configs. We expect a very long term to migrate from C headers to Kconfig. Two different infractructure must coexist in the interim. In our former configuration scheme, include/autoconf.mk was generated for use in makefiles. It is still generated under include/, spl/include/, tpl/include/ directory for the Normal, SPL, TPL image, respectively. 2014-02-19kbuild: use Linux Kernel build scriptsMasahiro Yamada
Now we are ready to switch over to real Kbuild. This commit disables temporary scripts: scripts/{Makefile.build.tmp, Makefile.host.tmp} and enables real Kbuild scripts: scripts/{Makefile.build,Makefile.host,Makefile.lib}. This switch is triggered by the line in scripts/Kbuild.include -build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build.tmp obj +build := -f $(if $(KBUILD_SRC),$(srctree)/)scripts/Makefile.build obj We need to adjust some build scripts for U-Boot. But smaller amount of modification is preferable. Additionally, we need to fix compiler flags which are locally added or removed. In Kbuild, it is not allowed to change CFLAGS locally. Instead, ccflags-y, asflags-y, cppflags-y, CFLAGS_$(basetarget).o, CFLAGS_REMOVE_$(basetarget).o are prepared for that purpose. 2010-11-17Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier
Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
2010-10-26Replace CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE by auto-generated valueWolfgang Denk
CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE has always been just a bad workarond for not being able to use "sizeof(struct global_data)" in assembler files. Recent experience has shown that manual synchronization is not reliable enough. This patch renames CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE into GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE which gets automatically generated by the asm-offsets tool. In the result, all definitions of this value can be deleted from the board config files. We have to make sure that all files that reference such data include the new <asm-offsets.h> file. No other changes have been done yet, but it is obvious that similar changes / simplifications can be done for other, related macro definitions as well. 2010-07-04Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk
The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ...
