2012-11-16mwifiex: fix system hang issue in cmd timeout error caseBing Zhao
Reported by Tim Shepard: I was seeing sporadic failures (wedgeups), and the majority of those failures I saw printed the printouts in mwifiex_cmd_timeout_func with cmd = 0xe5 which is CMD_802_11_HS_CFG_ENH. When this happens, two minutes later I get notified that the rtcwake thread is blocked, like this: INFO: task rtcwake:3495 blocked for more than 120 seconds. To get the hung thread unblocked we wake up the cmd wait queue and cancel the ioctl. 2012-11-14iwlwifi: fix monitor mode FCS flagJohannes Berg
When the firmware is in SNIFFER mode, it leaves the FCS at the end of frame. Not telling mac80211 means it won't add the right flag to the radiotap header and that confuses wireshark. Since mac80211 doesn't have a per-packet flag, set the HW flag dynamically. This works as the monitor vif can only be present in the driver by itself. 2012-10-30ath9k: Test for TID only in BlockAcks while checking tx statusSven Eckelmann
The ath9k xmit functions for AMPDUs can send frames as non-aggregate in case only one frame is currently available. The client will then answer using a normal Ack instead of a BlockAck. This acknowledgement has no TID stored and therefore the hardware is not able to provide us the corresponding TID. The TID set by the hardware in the tx status descriptor has to be seen as undefined and not as a valid TID value for normal acknowledgements. Doing otherwise results in a massive amount of retransmissions and stalls of connections. Users may experience low bandwidth and complete connection stalls in environments with transfers using multiple TIDs. This regression was introduced in b11b160defc48e4daa283f785192ea3a23a51f8e ("ath9k: validate the TID in the tx status information"). 2012-10-29ath9k: fix stale pointers potentially causing access to free'd skbsFelix Fietkau
bf->bf_next is only while buffers are chained as part of an A-MPDU in the tx queue. When a tid queue is flushed (e.g. on tearing down an aggregation session), frames can be enqueued again as normal transmission, without bf_next being cleared. This can lead to the old pointer being dereferenced again later. This patch might fix crashes and "Failed to stop TX DMA!" messages. Patch fixes warnings like below happened on resume: WARNING: at net/mac80211/driver-ops.h:12 check_sdata_in_driver+0x32/0x34() Problem is that in __ieee80211_susped() we remove sdata (i.e wlan0 interface) and then during resume we call usb_unbind_interface() -> ieee80211_unregister_hw() with sdata removed. Patch fixes problem by adding .reset_resume calback, hence we do not unbind usb device on resume. This callback can be the same as normal .resume callback, sice we do all needed initalization during interface start, which is performed on resume [ ieee80211_resume() -> ieee80211_reconfig() -> rt2x00mac_start() -> rt2x00lib_start ]. 2012-10-15brcmfmac: fix end of loop check (signedness bug)Dan Carpenter
The problem here is that we loop until "remained_buf_len" is less than zero, but since it is unsigned, it never is. "remained_buf_len" has to be large enough to hold the value from "mgmt_ie_buf_len". That variable is type u32, but it only holds small values so I have changed to both variables to int. Also I removed the bogus initialization from "mgmt_ie_buf_len" so that GCC can detect if it is used unitialized. I moved the declaration of "remained_buf_len" closer to where it is used so it's easier to read. 2012-10-12dm: store dm_target_io in bio front_padMikulas Patocka
Use the recently-added bio front_pad field to allocate struct dm_target_io. Prior to this patch, dm_target_io was allocated from a mempool. For each dm_target_io, there is exactly one bio allocated from a bioset. This patch merges these two allocations into one allocation: we create a bioset with front_pad equal to the size of dm_target_io so that every bio allocated from the bioset has sizeof(struct dm_target_io) bytes before it. We allocate a bio and use the bytes before the bio as dm_target_io. _tio_cache is removed and the tio_pool mempool is now only used for request-based devices. This idea was introduced by Kent Overstreet. Support discards when the pool's block size is not a power of 2. The block layer assumes discard_granularity is a power of 2 (in blkdev_issue_discard), so we set this to the largest power of 2 that is a divides into the number of sectors in each block, but never less than DATA_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_MIN_SECTORS. This patch eliminates the "Discard support must be disabled when the block size is not a power of 2" constraint that was imposed in commit 55f2b8b ("dm thin: support for non power of 2 pool blocksize"). That commit was incomplete: using a block size that is not a power of 2 shouldn't mean disabling discard support on the device completely.
