[ Upstream commit 713fced8d10fa1c759c8fb6bf9aaa681bae68cad ]
Commit 028cd86b794f4a ("video: da8xx-fb: fix the polarities of the
hsync/vsync pulse") fixes polarities of HSYNC/VSYNC pulse but
forgot to update known_lcd_panels[] which had sync values
according to old logic. This breaks LCD at least on DA850 EVM.
This patch fixes this issue and I have tested this for panel
"Sharp_LK043T1DG01" using DA850 EVM board.

[ Upstream commit 13aa38e291bdd4e4018f40dd2f75e464814dcbf3 ]
The Xen framebuffer driver selects the xen keyboard driver, so the latter
will be built-in if XEN_FBDEV_FRONTEND=y. However, when CONFIG_INPUT
is a loadable module, this configuration cannot work. On mainline kernels,
the symbol will be enabled but not used, while in combination with
a patch I have to detect such useless configurations, we get the
expected link failure:
drivers/input/built-in.o: In function `xenkbd_remove':
xen-kbdfront.c:(.text+0x2f0): undefined reference to `input_unregister_device'
xen-kbdfront.c:(.text+0x30e): undefined reference to `input_unregister_device'
This removes the extra "select", as it just causes more trouble than
it helps. In theory, some defconfig file might break if it has
XEN_FBDEV_FRONTEND in it but not INPUT_XEN_KBDDEV_FRONTEND. The Kconfig
fragment we ship in the kernel (kernel/configs/xen.config) however
already enables both, and anyone using an old .config file would
keep having both enabled.

There are situations where the backlight should be on at boot time
(e.g. if the boot loader already turned the display on). The DT
bindings specify the "default-on" property for that purpose.
Currently, the initial state of the GPIO at request time is always
set to logical off (high or low depending on whether it is an
active high or low GPIO). Since the GPIO is requested as an output,
the GPIO will be driven low for a short period of time, which leads
to a flickering display in the above use-case.
Initialize the GPIO depending on the default-on property to be
logical on or off.

"video: move Versatile CLCD helpers" missed the fact
that the Integrator/CP is also using the helper, and
as a result the platform got only stubs and no graphics.

This patch allows for easy integration of a custom Linux boot logo to
replace the Tux' being shown by default.
Use gimp or the like to create a raw PPM in your desired resolution.
Reduce the number of colours in the image to 224:
user@host:~$ ppmquant 224 Toradex-640x480.ppm > \
Toradex-640x480-224.ppm
ppmquant: making histogram...
ppmquant: 370 colors found
ppmquant: choosing 224 colors...
ppmquant: mapping image to new colors...
Convert it from raw PPM to ASCII format:
user@host:~$ pnmnoraw Toradex-640x480-224.ppm > \
Toradex-640x480-ascii-224.ppm
Copy it into the Linux sources:
cp Toradex-640x480-ascii-224.ppm linux-toradex/drivers/video/logo/\
logo_custom_clut224.ppm
Activate exclusively custom Linux logo in the kernel configuration:
Device Drivers -> Graphics support -> Bootup logo ->
Custom 224-color Linux logo
And re-compile the kernel.

For LPSTOP2, layers need to be reinitialized on resume (like in
probe). Furthermore do not enable the controller twice and use the
correct order in suspend and resume path.
|
|
|
|
Set Timing Controller into bypass after resume too. We already set
the Timing Controller into bypass mode on probe, however, the TCON
module looses its state after deep sleep modes such as LPSTOP2.

commit 2fa3b4c4a78a5db3502ab9e32630ea660ff923d0 upstream.
The LCDIF engines embedded in i.MX6sl and i.MX6sx SoCs need the axi clock
as the engine's system clock. The clock should be enabled when accessing
LCDIF registers, otherwise the kernel would hang up. We should also keep
the clock enabled when the engine is being active to scan out frames from
memory. This patch makes sure the axi clock is enabled when accessing
registers so that the kernel hang up issue can be fixed.

Implement ioctrl FBIO_WAITFORVSYNC which allows user space to wait for
next VSYNC. The ioctrl waits until the next vertical synchronization
phase has begun.
|
|
The DCU provides two register update methods: Manual using READREG
and automatic using MODE. Tests showed that the manual mode leads
to significant flickers on displays. This is especially disturbing
when using double buffering and panning (FBIOPAN_DISPLAY ioctrl).
Use the READREG mode only on initial mode setting and switch to
automatic mode for any further register changes.
|
|
Initial Y-offset has not been considered, which could lead to
unexpected behavior when initializing with a yoffset other than 0.
|
|
The current buffer underrun interrupt handling seems bogus in
multiple ways: Disabling and reenabling the controller seems a
questionable procedure and is also not documented. Furthermore,
to apply a DCU mode, a register transfer would be necessary
(UPDATE_MODE).
The current implementation probably even introduce races: If
a underrun happens just when enabling the controller (which has
been observed to happen quite often during initialization), the
register could still be in transfer mode. A write to a register
could still be transferred in this situation, which might lead
that the DCU off mode is transferred. Since the interrupt handler
does not initiate another register transfer, the controller would
stay off in this situation...
Rare conditions have been observed in which the controller ends
up in test mode. The race condition outlined above describes a
sequence in which the controller ends up beeing disabled. However,
before cd586e4cf9dc ("video: fsl-dcu-fb: fix operating mode off)
the DCU state off and test have been mixed up, hence this patch
could in fact fix that issue.
|
|
Fix layer initialization by also resetting the first Layer index 0.
Do not transfer the registers just yet, since this would probably
put the controller in test mode.
|
|
Powerdown mode has not been applied since disable_controller does
not initiate a register transfer by itself. Also disable the panel
in this case. We can safely nable the controller unconditionally
on FB blank normal.
|
|
To correctly set the operating mode "OFF" the mode bits need to be
cleared first using the mode mask preprocessor define.
|
|
Some features (such as rotation) are exported by the framework
through sysfs but not supported by hardware. Notify the framework
if they are not supported by the driver by returning EINVAL.
|
|
|
|
Reset all layers before calling register_framebuffer. Registring
a frame buffer device can lead to panel/layers getting enabled
immediately, especially when using virtual terminals. In this
situation, the other layers have not yet been initialized. Upon
writing the DCU_UPDATE_MODE register, which essentially enables
the controller, the system sometimes freezed. It looks like
the controller relied on stale layer configurations which lead
to a system freeze (probably due to illegal memory accesses).
This has mainly been observed on Colibri VF50 devices. The user
does not see any kernel output because the DCU frame buffer gets
initialized before the serial console. Using earlyprintk, the
last message beeing shown are:
...

The pixel clock polarity setting was still wrong: In contrast what
earlier mentioned, the reference manual is correct! But the kernel
display flags are rather somewhat confusing: The flags specify the
edge where the data should be driven by the controller (and hence not
sampled by the display!). We convert the display flag to the display
centric DCU notation when getting the videomode from device tree.
|
|
Add suspend and resume support which disables the panel completely.
Tested with the main frame buffer instance (fb0).
|
|
Fix defines for pixel clock and pixel data polarity. Configuring
pixel clock is now actually possible. On most display this needs
to be set, hence until now, some displays showed green or white
artefacts (e.g. EDT 5.7"). This is solved by this commit.
|
|
Add video= cmd support through converting the display timings into
a modedb and using the fb_find_mode helper. Because we need to pass
the fb_info struct, we do this for every layer. This is not a clean
solution but proved to work reliable.
|
|
Use the display timing configurations hsync-/vsync- and pixelclk-
active properties. The hsync- and vsync-active configuration is
available through the fb_videomode sync field. But pixelclk-active
need to be stored seperately because when converting the struct
display_timing to struct fb_videomode, this information gets lost.
Hence we cannot pick a mode from the modelist and expect that
pixelclk-active is set correctly. But currently modelist is not
used by anything, hence this is no issue.
|
|
Use the timing defined in the native-display property by default.
Get display timings from device tree only once in probe instead for
each framebuffer layer again.
|
|
Use num_timings when iterating through available timings. This
saves getting the display-timings node again.
|
|
The Display Controller Unit (DCU) module is a system master that
fetches graphics stored in internal or external memory and displays
them on a TFT LCD panel. A wide range of panel sizes is supported
and the timing of the interface signals is highly configurable.
Graphics are read directly from memory and then blended in real-time,
which allows for dynamic content creation with minimal CPU intervention.
The features:
(1) Full RGB888 output to TFT LCD panel.
(2) For the current LCD panel, WQVGA "480x272" is supported.
(3) Blending of each pixel using up to 4 source layers dependent on size of panel.
(4) Each graphic layer can be placed with one pixel resolution in either axis.
(5) Each graphic layer support RGB565 and RGB888 direct colors without alpha channel
and BGRA8888 direct colors with an alpha channel.
(6) Each graphic layer support alpha blending with 8-bit resolution.
This driver has been tested on Vybrid VF610TWR board.

can reuse the existing variable "i" for iterating over the channels.

for-next
Pull of-graph helpers from Philipp Zabel:
of: Add of-graph helpers to loop over endpoints and find ports by id
This series converts of_graph_get_next_endpoint to decrement the refcount of
the passed prev parameter. This allows to add a for_each_endpoint_of_node
helper macro to loop over all endpoints in a device tree node.
The of_graph_get_port_by_id function is added to retrieve a port by its known
port id (contained in the reg property) from the device tree.

ppc has special instruction forms to efficiently load and store values
in non-native endianness. These can be accessed via the arch-specific
{ld,st}_le{16,32}() inlines in arch/powerpc/include/asm/swab.h.
However, gcc is perfectly capable of generating the byte-reversing
load/store instructions when using the normal, generic cpu_to_le*() and
le*_to_cpu() functions eaning the arch-specific functions don't have much
point.
Worse the "le" in the names of the arch specific functions is now
misleading, because they always generate byte-reversing forms, but some
ppc machines can now run a little-endian kernel.
To start getting rid of the arch-specific forms, this patch removes them
from all the old Power Macintosh drivers, replacing them with the
generic byteswappers.

The PPC_OF is a ppc specific option which is used to mean that the
firmware device tree access functions are available. Since all the
ppc platforms have a device tree, it is aways set to 'y' for ppc.
So it makes no sense to keep a such option in the current kernel.
Replace it with PPC.
