Commit aeb18dd07692 ("net: stmmac: xgmac: Disable MMC interrupts
by default") tries to disable MMC interrupts to avoid a storm of
unhandled interrupts, but leaves the FPE(Frame Preemption) MMC
interrupts enabled, FPE MMC interrupts can cause the same problem.
Now we mask FPE TX and RX interrupts to disable all MMC interrupts.

The while loop condition verifies 'count < limit'. Neither value change
before the 'count >= limit' check. As is this check is dead code. But
code inspection reveals a code path that modifies 'count' and then goto
'drain_data' and back to 'read_again'. So there is a need to verify
count value sanity after 'read_again'.
Move 'read_again' up to fix the count limit check.

From XGMAC Core 3.20 and later, each Flexible PPS has individual PPSEN bit
to select Fixed mode or Flexible mode. The PPSEN must be set, or it stays
in Fixed PPS mode by default.
XGMAC Core prior 3.20, only PPSEN0(bit 4) is writable. PPSEN{1,2,3} are
read-only reserved, and they are already in Flexible mode by default, our
new code always set PPSEN{1,2,3} do not make things worse ;-)

[ Upstream commit 6f195d6b0da3b689922ba9e302af2f49592fa9fc ]
The STM32MP1 keeps clk_rx enabled during suspend, and therefore the
driver does not enable the clock in stm32_dwmac_init() if the device was
suspended. The problem is that this same code runs on STM32 MCUs, which
do disable clk_rx during suspend, causing the clock to never be
re-enabled on resume.
This patch adds a variant flag to indicate that clk_rx remains enabled
during suspend, and uses this to decide whether to enable the clock in
stm32_dwmac_init() if the device was suspended.
This approach fixes this specific bug with limited opportunity for
unintended side-effects, but I have a follow up patch that will refactor
the clock configuration and hopefully make it less error prone.

commit 4562c65ec852067c6196abdcf2d925f08841dcbc upstream.
So far changing the period by just setting new period values while
running did not work.
The order as indicated by the publicly available reference manual of the i.MX8MP [1]
indicates a sequence:
* initiate the programming sequence
* set the values for PPS period and start time
* start the pulse train generation.
This is currently not used in dwmac5_flex_pps_config(), which instead does:
* initiate the programming sequence and immediately start the pulse train generation
* set the values for PPS period and start time
This caused the period values written not to take effect until the FlexPPS output was
disabled and re-enabled again.
This patch fix the order and allows the period to be set immediately.

When the MAC is connected to a 10 Mb/s PHY and the PTP clock is derived
from the MAC reference clock (default), the clk_ptp_rate becomes too
small and the calculated sub second increment becomes 0 when computed by

stmmac_init_tstamp_counter().
Therefore, the subsequent div_u64 in stmmac_init_tstamp_counter()

[ Upstream commit 029c1c2059e9c4b38f97a06204cdecd10cfbeb8a ]
There is a long-standing issue with the Synopsys DWC Ethernet driver
for Tegra194 where random system crashes have been observed [0]. The
problem occurs when the split header feature is enabled in the stmmac
driver. In the bad case, a larger than expected buffer length is
received and causes the calculation of the total buffer length to
overflow. This results in a very large buffer length that causes the
kernel to crash. Why this larger buffer length is received is not clear,
however, the feedback from the NVIDIA design team is that the split
header feature is not supported for Tegra194. Therefore, disable split
header support for Tegra194 to prevent these random crashes from
occurring.

commit 47f753c1108e287edb3e27fad8a7511a9d55578e upstream.
Based on DesignWare Ethernet QoS datasheet, we are seeing the limitation
of Split Header (SPH) feature is not supported for Ipv4 fragmented packet.
This SPH limitation will cause ping failure when the packets size exceed
the MTU size. For example, the issue happens once the basic ping packet
size is larger than the configured MTU size and the data is lost inside
the fragmented packet, replaced by zeros/corrupted values, and leads to
ping fail.
So, disable the Split Header for Intel platforms.

than zero. This commit got it right, but subsequent patches just checked
for non-zero, which is incorrect for DT platforms.
In commit 92c3807b9ac3 ("net: stmmac: convert to phylink_get_linkmodes()")
the conversion switched completely to checking for non-zero value as a
valid value, which caused 1000base-T to stop getting advertised by
default.
Instead of trying to fix all the checks, simply leave max_speed alone if
DT property parsing fails.

Even if protected from preemption and interrupts, a small time window

commit 7af037c39b600bac2c716dd1228e8ddbe149573f upstream.
Unlike gmac100, gmac1000, gmac4 has 27 DMA registers and they are

commit 075da584bae2da6a37428d59a477b6bdad430ac3 upstream.
Some old IPs do not provide the hardware feature register.
On these IPs, this register is read 0x00000000.
In old driver version, this feature was handled but a regression came
with the commit f10a6a3541b4 ("stmmac: rework get_hw_feature function").
Indeed, this commit removes the return value in dma->get_hw_feature().
This return value was used to indicate the validity of retrieved
information and used later on in stmmac_hw_init() to override
priv->plat data if this hardware feature were valid.
This patch restores the return code in ->get_hw_feature() in order
to indicate the hardware feature validity and override priv->plat
data only if this hardware feature is valid.

Commit 14b41a2959fb ("net: stmmac: Delete txtimer in suspend") was the
first attempt to fix a race between mod_timer() and setup_timer()
during stmmac_resume(). However the issue still exists as the commit
only addressed half of the issue.
Same race can still happen as stmmac_resume() re-attaches interface
way too early - even before hardware is fully initialized. Worse,
doing so allows network traffic to restart and stmmac_tx_timer_arm()
being called in the middle of stmmac_resume(), which re-init tx timers
in stmmac_init_coalesce(). timer_list will be corrupted and system
crashes as a result of race between mod_timer() and setup_timer().

[ Upstream commit 08dad2f4d541fcfe5e7bfda72cc6314bbfd2802f ]
The Synopsys Ethernet IP uses the CSR clock as a base clock for MDC.
The divisor used is set in the MAC_MDIO_Address register field CR
(Clock Rate)
The divisor is there to change the CSR clock into a clock that falls
below the IEEE 802.3 specified max frequency of 2.5MHz.
If the CSR clock is 300MHz, the code falls back to using the reset
value in the MAC_MDIO_Address register, as described in the comment
above this code.
However, 300MHz is actually an allowed value and the proper divider
can be estimated quite easily (it's just 1Hz difference!)
A CSR frequency of 300MHz with the maximum clock rate value of 0x5
(STMMAC_CSR_250_300M, a divisor of 124) gives somewhere around
~2.42MHz which is below the IEEE 802.3 specified maximum.
For the ARTPEC-8 SoC, the CSR clock is this problematic 300MHz,
and unfortunately, the reset-value of the MAC_MDIO_Address CR field
is 0x0.
This leads to a clock rate of zero and a divisor of 42, and gives an
MDC frequency of ~7.14MHz.
Allow CSR clock of 300MHz by making the comparison inclusive.

appears:
drivers/net/ethernet/stmicro/stmmac/dwmac-ipq806x.o: warning: objtool:
ipq806x_gmac_probe() falls through to next function phy_modes()
This happens because the unreachable annotation in the third switch
statement is not eliminated. The compiler should know that the first
default case would prevent the second and third from being reached as
the comment notes but sanitizer options can make it harder for the
compiler to reason this out.
Help the compiler out by eliminating the unreachable() annotation and
unifying the default case error handling so that there is no objtool
warning, the meaning of the code stays the same, and there is less
duplication.

[ Upstream commit 8a7cb245cf28cb3e541e0d6c8624b95d079e155b ]
The RX FIFO overflows when the system is not able to process all received
packets and they start accumulating (first in the DMA queue in memory,
then in the FIFO). An interrupt is then raised for each overflowing packet
and handled in stmmac_interrupt(). This is counter-productive, since it
brings the system (or more likely, one CPU core) to its knees to process
the FIFO overflow interrupts.
stmmac_interrupt() handles overflow interrupts by writing the rx tail ptr
into the corresponding hardware register (according to the MAC spec, this
has the effect of restarting the MAC DMA). However, without freeing any rx
descriptors, the DMA stops right away, and another overflow interrupt is
raised as the FIFO overflows again. Since the DMA is already restarted at
the end of stmmac_rx_refill() after freeing descriptors, disabling FIFO
overflow interrupts and the corresponding handling code has no side effect,
and eliminates the interrupt storm when the RX FIFO overflows.

Looking at older patches for this it seems the RX + TXs buffers can be

[ Upstream commit b8239638853e3e37b287e4bd4d57b41f14c78550 ]
sun8i_dwmac_exit calls sun8i_dwmac_unpower_internal_phy, but
sun8i_dwmac_init did not call sun8i_dwmac_power_internal_phy. This
caused PHY power to remain off after a suspend/resume cycle. Fix this by
recording if PHY power should be restored, and if so, restoring it.

[ Upstream commit 529254216773acd5039c07aa18cf06fd1f9fccdd ]
While stmmac_pltfr_remove calls sun8i_dwmac_exit, the sun8i_dwmac_init
and sun8i_dwmac_exit functions are also called by the stmmac_platform
suspend/resume callbacks. They may be called many times during the
device's lifetime and should not release resources used by the driver.
Furthermore, there was no error handling in case registering the MDIO
mux failed during probe, and the EPHY clock was never released at all.
Fix all of these issues by moving the deinitialization code to a driver
removal callback. Also ensure the EPHY is powered down before removal.

There have chance to re-enable the eee_ctrl_timer and fire the timer
in napi callback after delete the timer in .stmmac_release(), which
introduces to access eee registers in the timer function after clocks
are disabled then causes system hang. Found this issue when do
suspend/resume and reboot stress test.
It is safe to delete the timer after napi disabled and disable lpi mode.

[ Upstream commit 82ca4c922b8992013a238d65cf4e60cc33e12f36 ]
The m250_sel mux clock uses bit 4 in the PRG_ETH0 register. Fix this by
shifting the PRG_ETH0_CLK_M250_SEL_MASK accordingly as the "mask" in
struct clk_mux expects the mask relative to the "shift" field in the
same struct.
While here, get rid of the PRG_ETH0_CLK_M250_SEL_SHIFT macro and use
__ffs() to determine it from the existing PRG_ETH0_CLK_M250_SEL_MASK
macro.

[ Upstream commit 4ec236c7c51f89abb0224a4da4a6b77f9beb6600 ]
When do suspend/resume test, there have WARN_ON() log dump from
stmmac_xmit() funciton, the code logic:
entry = tx_q->cur_tx;
first_entry = entry;
WARN_ON(tx_q->tx_skbuff[first_entry]);
In normal case, tx_q->tx_skbuff[txq->cur_tx] should be NULL because
the skb should be handled and freed in stmmac_tx_clean().
But stmmac_resume() reset queue parameters like below, skb buffers
may not be freed.
tx_q->cur_tx = 0;
tx_q->dirty_tx = 0;
So free tx skb buffer in stmmac_resume() to avoid warning and
memory leak.

The current implementation of stmmac_stop_all_queues() and
stmmac_start_all_queues() will not work correctly when the value of
tx_queues_to_use is changed through ethtool -L DEVNAME rx N tx M command.
Also, netif_tx_start|stop_all_queues() are only needed in driver open()
and close() only.

EEE should be only be enabled during stmmac_mac_link_up() when the
link are up and being set up properly. set_eee should only do settings
configuration and disabling the eee.
Without this fix, turning on EEE using ethtool will return
"Operation not supported". This is due to the driver is in a dead loop
waiting for eee to be advertised in the for eee to be activated but the
driver will only configure the EEE advertisement after the eee is
activated.
Ethtool should only return "Operation not supported" if there is no EEE
capbility in the MAC controller.
